Julia Bickerstaff's neon has been used in films & TV from horror movies to day time entertainment TV shows for decades. her first media work was whilst at Oldham Signs when a promotional film was made for the company to advertise with. The 2020s has seen Julia's involvement in on-screen reality television as herself. She was born in Yorkshire UK in 1966 after schooling Julia learnt her skills of glass work at Oldham Claudgen (Oldham Signs) The largest Sign company in Europe at the time, This was in September 1987. Julia was producing neon for all signage, lighting, Petroliana, high street signs and brewery signage with associated signage as well as TV and film work too. Julia also made neon for signs at Piccadilly Circus. This of cause is no more, in 2011 The main Sign panels were replaced by a giant LED tile screen for advertising. These days Julia makes bespoke neon commissions and also maintenance as well as personal pieces of art. Julia studied art at Leeds College of Art in the 80s and also holds a degree in Engineering. Julia's work has been exhibited world wide, from the Glass Art Society Conference in Seattle USA to the National Glass Museum Denmark. Julia has work resident at a number of galleries in the UK and is view-able via online galleries. Julia has appeared on television and radio displaying and talking about what she does and her talents with glass and knowledge of neon. Julia is on a personal mission to spread an understanding of why we should not leave craft skills behind and nourish our minds with hands on making. Presenting on renovation shows and speaking at conferences and seminars. Julia is a master neon maker.

Julia has been pivotal in teaching others the importance of glass working skills and informing the public about the importance of heritage craft skills.  She is multi award winning in her work and literature. Spreading light.
